Gage Science Education Endowed Scholarship

PURPOSE AND CRITERIA
The purpose of the Scholarship is to provide support for graduate or undergraduate students in the College of Education who plan to pursue careers teaching science courses at any level.

SELECTION AND DISBURSEMENT
The Scholarship recipients shall be chosen by the Scholarship committee (the Committee) of the College of Education. The Scholarship will be open to all applicants subject to the following criteria:
A. Must be enrolled as a full -time graduate or undergraduate student in the Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Leadership in the College of
Education or said Department’s successor, by whatever name.
B. The recipient(s) must be planning to pursue careers teaching science at any educational level.
C. Financial need. In deciding on the amount for individual awards, the Committee shall be liberal yet reasonable in determining the financial need of each particular student.
D. Recipients of the Scholarship shall maintain a 2.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale or the equivalent thereof if some other GPA system is being used. The Scholarship will be awarded for one academic year and the award will be disbursed quarterly to the student’s university financial account for each quarter in which the student will be enrolled. Recipients are eligible to be considered to receive the scholarship in future years as long as they meet the criteria.

In special circumstances and following due consideration, the Committee may award the Scholarship in reduced amounts when a scholar needs to be other than a full-time student.
