Lacombe (Gary J.) Endowed Scholarship

The purpose of the scholarship is to provide support for undergraduate students majoring in Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering and Science. The scholarship will be open to all applicants subject to the following criteria:
A. Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
B. Must have completed a minimum of30 credit hours in pursuit of an engineering degree.
C. Must have completed at least 20 hours of community service in the 12 months prior to application for the scholarship.
D. Must have a minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale in all official college courses.
E. Preference shall be given to students with demonstrated financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid.
F. Further preference shall be given to students who are graduates from a Louisiana High School located in a rural Parish (Based on Office of Management and Budget criteria).
G. Donor’s preference is that award is not divided among more than one recipient until the minimum amount to be received by all awardees is at least $1,000.

The scholarship recipients shall be chosen by the scholarship committee of the College of Engineering and Science.
The scholarship will be awarded for one academic year and the award will be disbursed quarterly to the student’s university financial account.
Recipients are eligible to be considered to receive the scholarship in future years as long as they continue to meet the criteria.
