Cyber Technology Practice Program

The Cyber Technology Practice Program (CTPP) is seeking students interested in enhancing their selected academic major courses of learning with non-credit, asynchronous courses leading to industry-recognized professional certificates and badges. This course work IS NOT for academic credit but is extra-curricular in nature. Completing CTPP can provide new Louisiana Tech graduates a competitive edge among peers seeking jobs in the workplace.

This is a tremendous opportunity, but it does take dedication to the effort to be successful.

The Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) will provide the asynchronous course instruction, applied labs and exams. Students participating in the winter quarter 2025-2026 will have a choice of one of the following options:

1)* Cybersecurity Fundamentals* addresses essential principles that frame and define cybersecurity, emphasizing the critical role of cybersecurity professionals in safeguarding enterprise data and infrastructure. This course comprises on-line coursework, an e-book, and labs. It is estimated to take approximately 30 contact hours to complete, roughly the equivalent of a 3-hour traditional academic class workload.

2)* IT Risk *and *IT Audit. Each of these two courses are estimated to take approximately 15 contact hours to complete for a total of 30 hours over the quarter; this is roughly the equivalent of a 3-hour traditional academic class workload. Each is comprised of on-line coursework and an e-book. There are no labs in these courses. *IT Risk covers the principles of IT risk management, the responsibilities and accountability for IT risk, how to build risk awareness and how to communicate risk. IT Audit covers fundamental audit concepts, how to use controls effectively to objectively conduct an audit, and the practical application of audit principles.

3) Data Science Fundamentals Learn how to use data to make informed business decisions, honing your ability to extract information from data sets and understand key data analysis concepts. You’ll be able to explain data characteristics, types, uses, and structures, define different data management systems, and talk to the basic concepts and procedures for data governance. .

All courseware, labs and the exam will be provided at no charge to the student.
